The Levi Effect

"The Levi Effect, the untold story of professional cyclist Levi Leipheimer."

Good Morning

FRAMES - Dan Powell

"Focusing on urban cycling, PDW produce some really well rounded parts, in aesthetics as well as design, and are for cyclists who want to maximise the use of their bikes for daily use, with accessories like bike racks, and fenders. But they are probably best known for the famous 3wencho compact spanner / tire lever / peanut butter knife, which takes a nod toward the well loved Campagnolo tools of old. Any companies that makes products to keep fellow cyclists pedaling, gets the thumbs up from us.
We caught up with Dan Powell and put some quick questions about what they have been busy with and what exciting ideas they have coming up."

A Good Day

VM Project Short Film

FRAME - Corbett Rowell

"In a slightly more cycling orientated area of Hong Kong, along one of the more well known cycling routes here, is Velocity Racers, a shop that sells the not so obvious form of personal transport that is a recumbent bike. When we found out you could get up to speeds of 100km/h much easier than a conventional road bike, we had to find out more about it.
We met up with Corbett Rowell who has a background in engineering, runs and owns Velocity Racers, about how he got involved with this type of bike, riding around with one and his mission with opening the only recumbent bike shop in Hong Kong and China. Touring the shop, we got to see some real amazing pieces of engineering which we get Corbett to go through and explain the engineering behind the bikes and how they manage to get up to those crazy speeds."

The Way I Roll - Gina Marie Scardino

"King Kog bike shop owner and drummer Gina Marie Scardino gives a unique tour of her legendary shop and takes the family on velodrome afternoon.

Gina Marie Scardino has managed to turn her bike shop King Kog in Brooklyn into a phenomenon. It is reputed to be the Aladdin's Cave of bike shops, and the truth is even better than fiction. King Kog is famous for selling everything a dedicated fixed gear and vintage bicycle enthusiast may ever need or want, from apparel to custom made bikes.
Fixed gear bikes have existed since the late 1800's, but in recent years the interest in them and the surrounding culture has boomed. The rumour has it that Gina Marie and her shop has somehow predated the current fixie-fad and will most certainly outlive it as well. When Gina is not running the shop, she is busy creating art or making music. Drums are her specialty, and she is currently drumming in the punk band Guts for Garters."

Nutrição

"See the SiS-fuelled Rapha Condor Sharp squad talk about their nutrition plans. We hear from riders such as World Champion Andy Tennant and Olympic Gold Medallist Ed Clancy, as well as the team nutritionist."

FRAME - Stijn

"We catch up with Stijn Deferm, founder of Stijn Cycles, on his recent trip to Hong Kong to support the HK/Shenzhen Biennale which has helped bring cycling to the public eye.
An ex-Downhill mountain bike champion and having won the Belgium National downhill mountain bike championship 3 times, Stijn tells us about his biking/racing background, past projects and getting in/working in the bike industry for well over 10 years.
With so many generic bikes and brands emerging now, we ask him about his latest venture in building a strong bike brand, the fascination with going back to steel frames, using hi-end Columbus steel tubing and bringing back the old art of fillet brazing and using them in his Stijn Cycles."

The Way I Roll - Salvador "Sal" Barbier

"Skater and BMX collector Salvador "Sal" Barbier shows his extensive collection of old school BMX frames which he calls "The Guggenheim of BMX".

Sal Barbier is a designer who lives in Los Angeles and runs his own independent bike shop where he sells the finest equipment and attire for the dedicated skater. When Sal grew up, BMX guys and skaters used to hang out in the same places, so Sal came to love both sports. Today, he combines them by riding his bike as a warm-up before skating. He is also famous for having what he labels "The Guggenheim of BMX", a collection of very rare BMX bikes and gear he spent years collecting and buying on eBay. He rides his different bikes wherever he goes, not out of convenience, but because he thinks that riding a bike is one of the coolest things in the world."

Paris para Londres

"This summer, we turned a crazy idea into reality: we crossed the channel to reach London from Paris, cycling and breakless. This trip helped us raising founds (about 10,500 € at the moment) for the french cycstic fibrosis foundation.
Cystic fibrosis is a desease that affects lungs and digestive system. Our goal is simple: “give our breath to those who need some”. Behind the financial dimension, what we want is to get people to know about cystic fibrosis (mucoviscidose in french).
The video of our whole trip should be released mid September."

The Way I Roll - Lucas Brunelle

"Alley cat race photographer Lucas Brunelle rides in beautiful settings and talks about his need for speed.

Lucas Brunelle is a 41-year old bicycle racer and cinematographer from Edgartown who films alley cat races; high-speed bicycle races through busy city streets in the worlds' most exciting and dangerous cities. With his custom-made helmet cameras, Lucas shares footage with the tactical speed and moves of the best riders in the world we have ever seen. His movies are said to enthuse people who have never even tried riding, and inspire the ones who do to go faster and take more chances. Today, Lucas travels the globe and films alley cats and urban riding worldwide on highways, under water, on the Great Wall of China, and through bullet-riddled jungles."

The Way I Roll - Nicole Duke

"Downhill and cyclo-cross pro Nicole Duke explains how her passion for biking has given her another turn in her bike career.

Nicole Duke is pursuing her third career, as a cyclo-cross pro. She grew up riding dirt bikes, and became a pro in downhill and dual slalom mountain biking already in 1996. After a career of traveling the world and being among the top ten, she quit riding and became a hair stylist. However, seven years later she felt the urge to get back in the saddle and tried her first cyclo-cross. And she was hooked. Despite juggling her job as a stylist and being a mother of two, 38-year-old Nicole has now managed to climb back to the top of her game. She is now National Masters CX Champion and finished third at Elite Nationals 2012. In contrast to her younger competitors, Nicole's secret is quality over quantity on the bike, and most important of all; remembering that it is all about having fun!"

The Way I Roll - Chris Van Dine

"Downhill rider and philanthropist Chris Van Dine shows one of his second homes in Guatemala, where he rides and contributes to society development at the same time.

The son of east coast mountain bike pioneer Galen Van Dine, Chris Van Dine is a first generation professional racer who grew up living the mountain bike lifestyle from its beginnings. At an early age, Chris developed a taste for speed and won his first mountain bike race when he was eight. He was the first North American to be crowned the fastest man on the continent at the 2009 Pan-American Championships. His proclivity for travel and adventure has taken him to pinnacle experiences and jaw dropping first descents from Alaska to Patagonia. After being confronted with the realities of the developing world, Chris realized that his passion and experience could actually impact peoples' lives on a basic level. From that point, his mission became one of ambassadorship and philanthropy, and after partnering with Pedals 4 Progress, an organization responsible for redistributing more than 136,000 bicycles to around 30 developing nations, Chris' purpose was realized and he has not looked back since."

Qual o seu?

The Way I Roll

Thule has let filmmaker Peter Sutherland shoot six documentaries about bike culture. The films, named "The Way I Roll", take us on a journey from Guatemala to a coast-to-coast experience featuring American bike pros, bike builders and enthusiasts -- shot at close quarters in their home landscape.

US filmmaker and photographer Peter Sutherland (director of bike documentary Pedal) portrays the following people in the films:

Salvador "Sal"Barbier, Los Angeles (CA) Skater and BMX collector.

Lucas Brunelle, Edgartown (MA) Alley cat race photographer.

Nicole Duke, Boulder (CO) Downhill and cyclo-cross pro.

Seth Rosko. NYC (NY) Skate park and bike builder.

Gina Marie Scardino, Brooklyn (NY) King Kog bike shop owner and drummer.

Chris Van Dine, Jim Thorpe (PA) Downhill rider and philanthropist.

The Way I Roll - Seth Rosko

"Skate park and bike builder Seth Rosko, a true NYC hero, reveals his bike-centered whereabouts in the city he loves.

Seth Rosko is a bicycle frame builder in New York City. Born on Long Island in 1974, Seth found skateboarding and punk rock at a young age, and this inspired him to go in search of an adventure that led him to the city's Lower East Side in the late '80s. He spent his formative years entrenched in the DIY/punk scene of Manhattan's Alphabet City, altering jobs in construction, bike messaging, and as a shop mechanic and skate park builder. After hours projects saw him travelling the world with the band Crash Worship, jumping freight trains across the country, racing vintage motorbikes, and building many co-operative skate parks, including the Autumn Bowl in Greenpoint, the C-Squat ramp, and more recently the Nike wave sculpture on the Bowery -- all in NYC. Seth has made bicycles for everyone from king of dirt contenders to courier champions, hip hop royalty, and of course the neighborhood superheroes. Rosko Cycles continues to promote the growth of cycling in the area by supporting grassroot and shop teams, as well as individual riders. Seth does not own a car, or eat animals, and he still lives in Alphabet City, in the home that he built himself, with his wife and son. "

Mala boa hein.

Fixie Lords

"The final production of the highly anticipated documentary. Dealing with stereotypes, riding reasons and other cyclist animosity, Fixie Lords takes the view deep inside the culture of fixed gears. Critically acclaimed in almost every country with a working computer, Fixie Lords will not disappoint."

If i Ride

We all ride for our own reasons, but we all want the same thing: a better future for bicycling.

If you want a better future for biking, sign the pledge at www.peopleforbikes.org. It only takes a minute.

"If I Ride" is a bicycle rider's poem to biking.

Our goal is to gather a million names of support, to speak with one, powerful voice—to make bicycling safer, more convenient and appealing for everyone.

Simply put, we believe that life is far more enjoyable when its experienced on two wheels. We believe that by coming together, we can make our world a better place to ride

Where Are You Go - Africa on a bike

Directed by Benny Zenga & Brian Vernor.

Four months on a bicycle between Cairo, Egypt and Cape Town South Africa is not your typical African safari.

En route with the Tour d' Afrique, the world's longest bicycle race and expedition, the Zenga Bros. (CAN) and Brian Vernor (USA) make light of this physically daunting trip by sharing a universal love of the bicycle with Africa's roadside mechanics, sporting racers, and innumerable curious strangers.

Traveling more than 70 miles per day, 50 racers and expedition riders experienced the boundless Nubian desert of Sudan, the great majesty of Victoria Falls, and finally the cold rush of the Atlantic Ocean.

Where Are You Go captures the 7,000 mile expedition as a constant adventure full of playfulness and mysterious beauty, and is a testament to the endurance of human curiosity.

Why We Ride

Bikes Make Life Better

We all know that when people ride bikes, life is better. In this short video, we bring this idea to life as riders trigger projectors throughout a city, transforming an urban environment into a vibrant, colorful world. A world made better, by bikes.

Tim Johnson`s Ride on Washington

5 ciclistas profissionais falam um pouco sobre segurança nas estradas.

While safe roads matter to everyone on a bike, professional cyclists spend more time on them than almost anyone. It's how they make a living. These talented, world-class athletes may seem super-human at times, but they are humans like any of us—vulnerable on the open road.

In this video, five professional U.S. cyclists reflect on their experiences with bicycle safety. Some riders, like Lucas Euser and Craig Lewis, have seen their careers nearly end after severe crashes with people driving cars. Others, like current National Road Race Champion Timmy Duggan, haven't faced such extreme incidents, but still have a vision for better bicycling conditions and motorist-bicyclist interactions. All riders share their lessons and ideas for how our communities can become more bike-friendly and safer for all road users.

Even though these riders are the top 1% of bicyclists, their advice—slow down, be aware, don't blow through red lights, build more infrastructure, get more people riding—applies to anyone who likes to enjoy the simple pleasure of a bike ride.

Athletes, in order of appearance:

Lucas Euser, Team Spider Tech
Craig Lewis, Team Champion System
Kristen Peterson, Professional Triathlete
Timmy Duggan, Liquigas-Cannondale, Current U.S. Road Race Champion
Mike Friedman, Optum Kelly Benefit
